Fall Surface
A key component to all outdoor climbing equipment is the fall zone/use zone underneath and around the equipment. We provide many types of fall surfaces. When our designer visits your site and lays out the playground he/she will also determine the correct use zone size, which is the additional space around the equipment that you need your fall surface to be to meet current standards and guidelines. Below is a list of fall surface materials that we provide:
Engineered Wood Fiber; including plastic borders, and weed fabric
Rubber Nuggets; ground up rubber tires that are colored and coated to protect color
Rubber Tiles; vary in thickness depending on the height of playground equipment
Poured-In-Place Rubber; team of experts come to your site, mix and pour the rubber surface
Synthetic Grass; team of experts come to your site and install a rubber pad covered by a synthetic grass surface

Shade Structures
When purchasing a shade structure, if you plan to leave it outdoors year round, you'll want to buy a commercial product where the steel is heavy enough to take an 80 mph wind load. You will also want a minimum 90% UVR protection while children are under the structure. Some shade structures offer up to 97% UVR protection. The American Dermatology Association recommends 96.7% of UVR protection or higher. Usually the fabric for the shade structures is porous to allow wind and rain to move through the fabric. The fabric generally provides shelter during light showers, but not heavy rain.
When purchasing a shade structure, we recommend you get one that has an easy mechanical system for removing the fabric in the winter. Most fabrics on the shade structures are not rated for snow and if you are in a snow area, you will want to bring the fabric in during these months. The type we use is a ratcheting system that requires a simple ratchet tool and one person to loosen three to four bolts that allow the fabric to be unhooked from the frame. The fabric can be folded up and stored indoors through the winter.
